This is a very important post and we ask for your help, This is very close to the heart of Isabelle Grant as this little boy goes to her school in Palamós.

Please can you start saving the tops of plastic bottles and cartons (just the plastic top) . These are worth money and people all over Catalunya are doing this for Richi, who is now in America undergoing treatment. See the weblink for more information in English.

Bring them to church and we will add them to the collection, either pass to Isabelle Grant, Sharon Grant or Penny Berlin.

My son and I are both contact lens wearers; our prescriptions are different, but not
too far apart. One day he accidentally split one of his lenses and asked if he could
borrow one from my supply, until he could get a replacement. Having a split lens,
of course, seriously impairs your vision. It can also make your eye sore and cause
an infection, so I was glad to be able to help my son out with a lens. With the new
lens safely installed, he was able to see clearly and set off to work.
It struck me that many of the problems between people – within families or cities,
or on a wider scale, internationally or between people of different faiths – result
from the fact that we see things differently. This is partly a sign of God’s
creativity, that he did not make a race of identical robots! On the other hand,
when it comes to seeing the world as it really is, it is also true that we all have
“impaired vision”. All of us look at the world through lenses which are damaged,
scratched or tinted, by pain, fantasy or prejudice, or for a variety of other
reasons. Our Father has an unlimited supply of spiritual contact lenses, through
which all who wear them can see the world as he sees it. Through his lenses we
could surely make better decisions and live more harmoniously. All we have to do
is recognise that our lenses are damaged and ask our Father to give us new ones!
I’m currently enjoying a great book by Steve Chalke and Alan Mann called
“Different Eyes; The Art of Living Beautifully” (Zondervan 2010) which starts from
a very similar idea and shows how, with God’s help, we can begin to see more
clearly on complex issues like War, Wealth, Homosexuality and Euthanasia. I
warmly recommend the book and we will be “arranging for some copies to be
available on the Church bookstall.
